Living Room Makeover Reveal

I’m so happy to finally show off the living room makeover to you gorgeous lot! This living room makeover has been a long time in the making! As you would have recalled from this blog post, I was planning to give the living room a little makeover. Just to give it a bit of TLC and a new lease of life. Being a rental, we are very limited in what we can do, but the landlord has been very lovely to give us a bit of leniency and let us makeover the house. So this is the results of the living room makeover…

The living room makeover

So the biggest changes made to the room were the walls. The woodwork was old and yellowed and the walls were magnolia, paired with a peach ceiling. So the first thing we needed to go was to paint everything that needed painting white a brilliant white. So the paint I went for on the woodwork was Unicorns Breath nearly matt emulsion by Dowsing & Reynolds. Disclaimer, I do work for this company as their marketing extraordinaire (if you’ve spoken to us on Instagram, that person saying hi back was me). The white is such a lovely gorgeous brilliant white and worked so well on the woodwork, as well as the fireplace. The fireplace was in much needed TLC and it’s my favourite part of the makeover. Check out this post to see what a difference a bit of paint makes!

The walls were also painted in Dowsing & Reynolds paint. This amazing dark green is called Spruce Things Up. As a scandi-girl, I wanted a bit of change and to flex my interior muscles. So I decided to embrace the dark side. I just love this dark green. It gives the room such a cosy feeling and I love how it looks next to the sofa. The fireplace also stands out so much against it. Honestly, I cannot get enough of this wall colour!

Living room lighting

Another big change was lighting. Gone is my little table lamp that you usually see in my living room. I’ve now replaced it with this gorgeous little ceramic one from Barker & Stonehouse. I’ve managed to create the perfect little reading nook with the armchair and marble tables (an Aldi special, unfortunately not available anymore), which you can all read about in this post.

Because this is such a tall room, I was able to make a statement with the main lighting. And since I work for a company which has a lot of lighting products, I was spoilt for choice! However, I have always had my eye on one particular bad-boy. I love our goose feather light shade and finally, I had the perfect space to house this gorgeous lightshade. I’m honestly in love with it. I cannot get enough of this light!

Side note as well about the last photo. Lee was told to remove the masking tape from around the light. When he finished the painting. Which was two months ago. Now, I would remove it myself. Except, I cannot reach the ceiling rose. On step ladders. Real life guys, real life.

The final accessories

In terms of furniture, we’ve still got the same furniture (apart from the marble side tables, which we brought before we moved). The pennies don’t stretch to new stuff right now but trust me, you’ll be the first to know when I replace my coffee table. We did buy a radiator cover from eBay to cover the yellowing radiator. It’s the perfect side for throwing your keys onto when you come home. I have a whole project in mind on how to style an entryway when you don’t really have one. Keep an eye out for that post soon!

I did purchase some new cushions from H&M, to replace the Zara Home ones that were falling apart. I wanted to get some natural ones, but also a bit of pink to give the room a bit more colour. Of course, we have the gallery wall, that brings a lot of colour and personality to the room. I’ve written about it at length on this post, including a cheeky discount that runs out today btw! The other final thing that is new to the room is my shelving unit which sits in the corner in our alcove. Again, I go into much more detail about it here on this post.

What do you think to our living room makeover?

I’m honestly in love with the finished results. I think the room looks amazing and I’m just in love with the whole space. I cannot wait to work on some of the other rooms in the house!
