I’ve been described by a work friend as a British Carrie Bradshaw and I’m honestly okay with that comparison. It is apparently my knowledge of places to eat and drink coffee has given me this reputation. Last week on Instagram Stories I asked what you gorgeous readers would like to see more of on my blog and the one thing that came up was the best places to have brunch and drink coffee. When you ask, you shall receive! Starting with a gorgeous brunch at The Alchemist.
The Alchemist has been around pretty much since Trinity Shopping Centre and they have a second location on Greek Street. Both are exceptional places to grab some delicious cocktails, pleasing for both your palette and your eyes (they are so so pretty!) I’ve also had lunch there but never a morning meal. So when I was invited to have brunch at The Alchemist, I jumped at the chance, grab my favourite girls and off we went!
Brunch at The Alchemist
We started with a good cup of tea, which didn’t come in the most traditional teapot. The Alchemist is all about being the master of molecular mixology. So of course, our tea and milk came in beakers, I wouldn’t expect anything else. Fresh loose tea is a huge plus, it’s so much nicer than a teabag. Our fabulous friend Ally went with a fresh juice, Kaleing Me Softly, which I can report was delicious according to her.
The simple pleasures
The brunch menu is simple but complex at the same time. Take the humble avocado toast with poached eggs. A very simple, delicious dish. Now add some sourdough toast, garnish and the main attraction, Chilli drizzle and the dish is taken to the next level. I’m also happy to report the eggs were cooked to perfection; soft with just the right amount of runny yolk. There are some other fantastic dishes that I’m dying to try is the shakshouka and halloumi & avocado muffin (this sounds amazing!) Their Mish Mosh dish sounds so intriguing.
All in the details
The restaurant itself is a gorgeous place to hang out. It’s very light and airy, but still has a cosiness to it. It’s modern, with a bit of edge. The only vice I have with the decor is the tables. There are these gorgeous circular copper tables that are stunning and compliment the interior and the vibe of the place. However, there are also these rectangular wooden tables that personly, I don’t think these go with the vibe at all. Now, I know about eating out isn’t all about how the place looks. But it is apart of it, eating is about invoking all the senses. I just wish that the tables were all copper, it would be the cherry on top of the cake.
The Alchemist is the perfect place for a brunch date with friends. So if you have a special occasion to celebrate or want to surprise someone special with a fabulous place to eat, this place is the perfect place to do so.
