BEEF BURGERS WITH BASIL & CHILLI


Who says that burgers cannot be healthy?

I'm not talking those burgers you get at a fast food restaurant. But burgers that you actually make yourself, using the best ingredients, they can actually be alright. Sure you can forgo the bread, but every now and then you can have a treat. 

These burgers are made with lean mince beef which is so good for you in terms of getting your much needed protein and healthy fats into you. With the added veggies and a little chilli for an extra kick, you cannot go wrong with these burgers. 


THE INGREDIENTS
(makes five burgers, more if you go for small patties)

- 650g lean mince beef
- 1 red pepper chopped
- 1 white onion diced
- chilli flakes, as many as you can handle
- fresh basil, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves chopped
- 1/2 tsp ground cumin
- salt and pepper

Preheat the grill to medium/ high heat. Put the beef, red pepper, garlic, chilli flakes, chopped basil and cumin into a bowl. Mix together until well combined. Season to taste with salt and pepper. 





Using your hands, mould the ingredients into patties- shaping them into the size you desire. Once shape put them into the fridge to chill ideally for at least an hour but the longer the better. 

Once they are shaped and chilled you can freeze them for later; ensuring you always have quick and easy meal available. Or you can make them in advance ready for your summer BBQ party at the weekend- ensuring maximum hosting time with little effort. 



Once you are ready to eat, place them on a roasting tray and grill on each side for 8 minutes or until they are cooked. With ready meat you can have the burgers a little pink in the middle for added taste, so cook them for as long as you prefer. 



Delicious, easy dinner with no added guilt. I dare you not to try these and love them!
