There is nothing better than a British seaside town….

About a week ago I headed with my family to the historical town of Whitby to enjoy some family time and a classic seaside town and all it’s trimmings. We met up with my German family which consists of my uncle, aunt and my two cousins Kim and Jonnah. I haven’t seen them in forever so it was great to catch up with them again- if if there was a slight language barrier at times. It always remind me I need to learn more German, having a second language is a good skill to have!

So what can I tell you about Whitby. Well the historical parts are gorgeous; The Abbey, Captain Cook’s Museum and if you really want some fresh air, then head on down to The Yorkshire Moors.

There is not a lot of high street shops, but there are some great local, independent places; I fell in love with Gutsy Ginger and their rings! For food, you cannot go wrong with the local seafood, Whitby scampi is the best and Abbey Wharf fish restaurant is a great restaurant to rest up at and enjoy some fish and chips in the sunshine. There is also Botham’s of Whitby, one of the oldest tea shops in England, where you can enjoy a good pot of tea with a cream tea scone.

I would advise to avoid the town on a Bank Holiday, I was absolutely packed! The town is great for a weekend getaway or a a mid- week break from it all.
