Salted Caramel Brownies


Ready for the best recipe post I have ever made?



Salted caramel is my favourite sweet treat, so of course for Easter I had to whip up a sugary recipe just in time for the long weekend. I must ask, does anyone else have a four day weekend over the Easter period- or is it one of those treats that us UK folk indulge ourselves with? 

This recipe is so simple but can look very impressive. Your ingredients can be found in your pantry or at your local supermarket. 


THE INGREDIENTS
(Makes 12)
-  180g plain flour 
- 3 tbsp cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp rock salt
- 300g dark chocolate/ milk chocolate
- 150g unsalted butter
- 4 free- range eggs 
- 220g light brown sugar 
- 150g caster sugar 
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- carnation caramel

- Preheat the oven to 190C. Lin a tin (32cm x 23cm) with greaseproof paper. Set to one side. 

- For the brownies, sift the flour, cocoa powder and salt into a large bowl. Set aside for later. 


- Melt the chocolate and butter in a pan over medium heat, remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly. 



- Whisk the eggs, sugar and vanilla extract in a large bowl until thick and pale. Whisk in the chocolate, then fold in the flour mixture until just combined. 



- Pour half the batter into the tin and smooth with a spatula. Add the caramel (pour into a jug and add a little bit of sea salt, mix until combined). Add the remaining batter and gently level the top. Bake fr 25- 30 minuites or until a skewer inserted in the middle comes out clean. Allow the tin to completely cool. 

- Once completely cooled, cut into squares and store in a tight lid box. 



You cannot loose with this recipe, this will be the perfect addition to any Easter feast, or as a sweet treat to win any family members over with.
